Place the pan back on the stovetop and heat it until it starts to smoke. 5. Once smoking, turn off the heat and allow the pan to cool quickly.

Oven Method: 1. Place a foil-lined baking sheet on the bottom rack of your oven. 2. Preheat the oven to 475°F to 500°F. 3. While the oven is preheating, wash the pan with warm soapy water and dry it thoroughly. 4. Apply a thin layer of oil of your choice to the interior and exterior of the pan, using a paper towel. You can also rub the pan with a hand towel to ensure even coverage. 5. Place the pan upside down on the rack above the foil-lined baking sheet. 6. Leave the pan in the oven for an hour. After an hour, turn off the oven but leave the pan inside until it's cool to the touch.
